THE "ORFEO DISEGNATO"

Dietro le quinte della biografia avventurosa di Claudio Monteverdi

Several projects and collaborations at the Monteverdi Festival, from June 4th to June 26th, it will be possible to visit the exhibition “L’ORFEO DESIGNATO – DIETRO LE QUINTE DELLA BIOGRAFIA AVVENTUROSA DI CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI”. This exhibition is the result of the deep cooperation between Ponchielli Theatre and the “Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza” in Cremona, and it will be a new way to get closer to Monteverdi’s life.

Monteverdi, main character of the baroque melodrama, invented the “recitar – cantando” that became a model for all the following operas.

But his life wasn’t easy at all…the enemies of the music “genius-loci”, wanted to kill him.

Protected by an original gesuit and by a special story telling, Monteverdi lives among Cremona, Mantova and Venice, between 1500 and 1600, on the river Po, between inhospitable courts and magic taverns.

The playwright Michele Ginevra and the drawer Francesca Follini tell all these details in the comic-book “Monteverdi Genius-Loci”, where biography and fantasy coexist with the rhythm of the bass continuous.

The exhibition presents the backstage of this comics-opera, proposing sketches, documentation materials and complete drawings.

The book is published by Kleiner Flug.
