Le desiate acque di Claudio Monteverdi

 

Monteverdi Festival embarks on a new music cruise on the Po River, tracing the steps of Monteverdi’s life and connecting his beloved towns, Cremona, Mantua and Venice. This time, we will discover the Island of S. Servolo and its religious convent that has also been a madhouse and now hosts a unique museum. Concerts on the deck and at the berth, on a cruise to repeat Monteverdi’s journey, but also to enjoy dazzling landscapes rich of culture, history and art.

Friday 31st May

9.00 am –Departure from Cremona on the Stradivari boat (transfer from Cremona (Porta Venezia) to the dock is available)

11.00 am – Concert on the deck – Stradivari boat

ENSEMBLE IL FURIBONDO

The programme magnifies the extreme features of Baroque instrumentalism, from Geminiani to Boismortier, and goes towards the crystalline shores of Platti’s rococo style. On the placid flow of the Po river, the String Trio Il Furibondo engages virtuoso-playing and charm, in an explosion of energy and dynamic contrasts.

– Cocktail and lunch on board

3 pm – Stop in Boretto Po and bus transfer to Sacchetta, then boarding on the Andes 2000. Sailing on the Po river towards Mantua: sailing on the Mincio river, passing by Andes (Virgil’s birthplace) and the Vallazza. Wonderful view of willow trees and water lilies.

– Arrival in Mantua close to Palazzo Ducale.

7.15 pm – Bibiena Theatre, Mantua

ENSEMBLE FELICE DALL’ABACO

Young ensemble founded within the Conservatory of Verona enacts a lively programme entirely dedicated to Vivaldi’s concerti for different instruments, in a wide variety of expressions and styles, ranging from breath-taking virtuosity to sweet intense melodies.

- free evening and transfer to the hotel.

 

Saturday 1st June

8.00 am –Bus transfer from Mantua to Venice.

10.00 am – Arrival to Fusina (Venezia) and boarding on the Motonave Delta Tour. Welcome breakfast on board and sailing to San Giorgio island. All the passengers will be equipped with earphones to allow the visit of the Island with expert tour guides.

- During the navigation in the Venetian lagoon cocktail and lunch will be served with a traditional Venetian fish menu. 

3.00 pm –Visit to the San Servolo island, ancient religious centre then transformed into an asylum and now it is a university.

4.00 pm – Auditorium San Servolo Island, Venezia

Canti sacri e profani tra ragione e follia
MICROLOGUS 

A marvellous journey in the Medieval feast, diving into the reason and the foolness of one of the highest musical and poetical expressions. From the fascinating Cantigas dedicated to the Virgin Mary, when joy bursts out into a general dance, to 13th century Carmina Burana and Corbeil’s Feast of the Ass, irreverently turning upside down the order of the Church. 

Transfer to Zattere (Venice) and a walk with expert tour guides. Free time for individual visits. 

9.00 pm – Embarking at Zattere and sailing towards Fusina.

9.30 pm – Arrival at Fusina and bus transfer to Cremona

12.00 pm –Expected arrival in Cremona with two stops (Porta Venezia and Largo Marinai d’Italia)
