BariAntiquA è un progetto dell'Associazione MAP - Musica Antica in Puglia
In South Italy, Monteverdi’s music and aesthetics was widespread and culminated with the Neapolitan performance of L’Incoronazione di Poppea in 1651. The concert intertwines sacred and secular compositions by Monteverdi and South Italian composers: particularly, Giovanni Maria Sabino, born in Puglia but studied and worked in Naples, contributed to Monteverdi’s fortune in South Italy. The ensemble BariAntiquA, founded a few years ago by Diego Cantalupi, aims at enhancing the Apulian musical repertoire and culture.
