CREMONA AND ITS KNOW-HOW

Monteverdi, father of Melodrama, Stradivari, Amati, Guarneri del Gesù, the great violin-making masters, but also Anguissola, first female international painter. And then Torriani, genius of the Renaissance, Tognazzi, actor fundamental for the history of our cinema, and Mina, the most famous Italian voice. Discovering Cremona through the characters who were born and worked in this town means discovering and living an experience of its ancient and sublime know-how. It’s violin-making tradition, included in Unesco intangible heritage: Cremona is the home-town of violins, music and sound studies. In Cremona you can be trained to become a violin-maker and only in Cremona you can become an instruments’ restorer. In Cremona young musicians can study and improve. In Cremona you can study the sound and the instruments in specific research laboratories.

Here, in Cremona, the violin-making workshops are among the richest ones, especially for their number and for the quality of their works. In Cremona you can admire and listen to the violins of the great ancient and contemporary masters, real masterpieces. In Cremona you can listen to ancient and modern music, during several festivals, organized in the streets and in the squares, in the churches and in the buildings. A real system: there’s no other town like Cremona. Cremona is also the town of agriculture and food processing. Cremona is famous for its excellent food and dairy cattle breeding techniques, for its companies, universities and research centers. Cremona can mix tradition and innovation. In Cremona are trained people coming from all over the world. Cremona, Bergamo, Brescia and Mantua were awarded with the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2017.

In Cremona, every November, with the help of the local specialized companies, nougat is adequately celebrated. Cremona is also the town of the river Po, one of the main water highway in Europe, fundamental for sailing and bicycle touring, able to attract international tourism for its nature and culture. Cremona can connect two river’s banks, two regions and the entire country. Because every territory, exactly as it is, can imagine its future only if it can open its doors to other territories and show all its characteristics. And this is exactly what Cremona is doing.
