BRANDENBURG CONCERTOS
by Johann Sebastian Bach
LA RISONANZA
Fabio Bonizzoni, conductor
Harnoncourt Homage
In 1724 the Brandeburd Concertos were offered to Christian Ludwig, Margrave of Brandeburg, who probably archived them without ever performing them: in fact, they represent an original and speculative masterpiece, a catalogue condensing different style, forms and influences. La Risonanza conducted by Fabio Bonizzoni magnifies the blaze of colours and the neverending melodic and rhythmic inventions of Concertos n. 3 and n. 6 (for strings) and especially Concerto n. 5, celebrated for its striking cadenza assigned to the harpsichord.
