A new edition of the Monteverdi Festival ready more than ever to celebrate the Divine Claudio, a reference figure in the history of music and melodrama.
Productions, music, unusual proposals and contaminations for this 2022 edition, open to the city and the world, scheduled in Cremona from 17 to 26 June.

The Monteverdi Festival will be inaugurated by a new staging of Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria under the direction of the charismatic Maestro Ottavio Dantone and the innovative direction of Luigi De Angelis, one of the most popular directors in the panorama of contemporary theater.
The Vespers of the Beata Vergine interpreted by the Monteverdi Festival Orchestra and choir and directed by Antonio Greco, The Tallis Scholars directed by Peter Phillips, Divino Sospiro, Jordi Savall, Raffaele Pe will be the protagonists of the evening concerts in the Theater and in some of the most evocative places in the city.
Short events in historical places of the city, such as churches and palaces, for a great community involvement where Monteverdi Festival was born and takes place, for a musical culture diffusion on several levels.
Discovering an unusual place thanks to a new show conceived and created by the performer Elena Rivoltini who will make us relive the emotions of the Vespro della Beata Vergine by Claudio Monteverdi in a contemporary reinterpretation that combines electronic music with baroque singing.
In the late evening we invite our public to admire Caravaggio's paintings in this new format proposed for the 2022 edition of the Monteverdi Festival. The visual performance of Teatri35 will marry the live music of the ensemble I Bassifondi for two happenings dedicated to art thanks to the living realization of Caravaggio's paintings.
The Festival organizes a residenc of ancient music (13-19 June), with the aim of deepening The Italian repertoire of the 16th and 17th centruries. Ottavio Dantone, Antonio Greco, Alessandro Tampieri, Delphine Galoue and Alessandro Ciccolini will hold the Workshop dedicated to musical practise for ensembles.
Alongside the 2022 edition of the Monteverdi Festival, the Guindani Viaggi agency is organizing a music cruise.
The itinerary, made many times also by Monteverdi himself, will start from the Serenissima, the composer's final destination, probably the most coveted, will reach Mantua where the Divine Claudio lived at the court of the Gonzaga and finally will arrive in Cremona, the birthplace of Monteverdi, on the day of the inauguration of the Festival.
The Monteverdi Festival brings Monteverdi's music to some representative places of Cremona and its province identified in three unusual locations: the Prison House, the Sospiro Onlus Foundation, the EcoMembrane company. The soloists of the Monteverdi Festival - Cremona Antiqua Choir, thanks to the performance of Monteverdi's a cappella madrigals, will cheer guests and operators of these three realities to spread the music of the Divine Claudio to all.
