Monteverdi Festival 2019

Festival Monteverdi is one of the most important early music festivals in Italy, founded in 1986 and dedicated to Claudio Monteverdi.

Festival Monteverdi invites every year well-known Italian and international music ensembles, soloists and young bold musicians. The repertoire spreads from Mediaeval to Late Baroque music, with cross-over concerts, unpublished premières and new discoveries.

Festival Monteverdi spreads out during the spring throughout the town, looking for unusual venues: sacred music is performed in the beautiful baroque churches of the town (S. Marcellino, S. Omobono), and secular music concerts are held in cloisters, courts, historical villas, as well as in the Theatre and in the Auditorium Arvedi, a beautiful concert-hall projected by the sound engineer Yasuhisa Toyota, and built within the Violin Museum.

Since 2013 Monteverdi Festival is member of REMA (Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne).
